Scholarship & Education Awards
A little support can open a big door.
WiSH Education Awards provide need-based support to help young women pursue their college goals. Each award is different because every student’s circumstances and needs are different. Support may include financial assistance for tuition, books, or other educational expenses, as well as technology such as a laptop or tablet.
Thinking about applying? Here’s everything you need to know about the Scholarship & Education Awards. From what we offer, to what to expect.
-
WiSH Education Awards are available to young women who:
Identify as women
Are rising high school seniors preparing to apply to college, or are currently enrolled in college through their senior year
Demonstrate financial need
Are pursuing a college or university education
Are willing to participate in the WiSH Mentorship Program if selected for an Education Award
For rising high school seniors, awards may help with college application-related expenses, such as application fees, technology, or other costs associated with the college application process.
For current college students, awards are designed to help with educational expenses such as tuition, books, technology, or other costs that support their ability to continue their college education.
-
Complete the application and tell us about yourself, your goals, your circumstances, and the support you need. You’ll also be asked to submit an essay and a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, or other school professional who can speak to your circumstances and need. Please answer each question honestly and completely, as your responses help us understand your story and determine how WiSH may be able to support you.
-
Your essay is your opportunity to tell us more about yourself beyond the questions in the application. Share your college list, your goals, your experiences, any challenges you’ve faced, and what you hope to accomplish. Most importantly, tell us how receiving an award could help you move forward. We’re not looking for a perfect story, we just want to better understand who you are and the difference this support could make in your life.
-
WiSH Scholarship & Education Awards are need-based and are not guaranteed. There is no predetermined award amount. Each individual application is thoughtfully reviewed based on financial need, specific circumstances, educational goals, and the potential impact of the support. Because every student’s situation is different, the type and amount of support we provide may vary.
-
WiSH may provide financial assistance toward expenses such as tuition, books, or other educational costs. Depending on a student’s circumstances and available funding. WiSH may also provide technology, such as a laptop or tablet. Our goal is to give the type of support that can make the greatest difference for each recipient as they pursue their education.
-
Scholarship & Education Award recipients also become part of the WiSH Mentorship Program, because we believe financial support is only part of a successful journey.
When you apply for an Education Award, you are automatically applying for the WiSH Mentorship Program as well.
Education Award recipients are required to participate in mentorship and will be matched with a WiSH mentor and will have the opportunity to receive ongoing guidance, encouragement, and support as they navigate college and their future.
-
Receiving a WiSH Award is both an opportunity and a commitment. Award recipients are expected to participate in the WiSH Mentorship Program, stay engaged with their mentor, and use the award for the educational purpose described in their application. Recipients may also be asked to provide updates about their college journey or share how WiSH’s support has made a difference.
-
Please reach out to us! You do not need to have everything figured out before applying.
If you’re unsure about your eligibility, what type of support to request, or whether WiSH is the right fit for you, we’re happy to talk with you and help you understand your options.
